Byron Wear has extensive experience in regional land use and transportation in both the public and private sectors. As a public servant, he chaired both the Land Use and Housing Committee of the City Council and the REGIS State Commission that led to the reorganization of SANDAG and MTDB/MTS, the California Coastal Commission and the establishment of the San Diego Regional Airport Authority.

In the private sector Byron Wear worked to reopen the San Diego & Arizona Eastern Railway built by John D. Spreckles and provided technical land use assistance for numerous residential and commercial projects in San Diego and Southern California.

Wear has worked on bi-national planning efforts surrounding the reopening of the San Diego & Arizona Eastern Railway. As a consultant for Carrizo Gorge Railway Wear planned and developed an international multi-model and goods involvement facility, which earned him the "Golden Spike" Award.

Additionally, Wear successfully obtained funding for San Diego's low flow storm water diversion system, the first of it's kind in California that dramatically improved water quality.

Byron Wear is leading efforts to plan for new expanded renewable energy sites in the western United States.
